Job Summary

Bristol Bay Native Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Madigan Army Medical Center. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the pharmacy team in a fast-paced medical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and review prescriptions, utilizing knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy SOPs to ensure accurate dispensing.
  • Enter prescriptions into the outpatient computer system, reviewing patient profiles for allergies, drug interactions, and duplicate orders.
  • Obtain pharmaceuticals, prepare package labels, and set up for pharmacist review.
  • Coordinate with prescribers and hospital staff on medication-related issues or questions.
  • Work independently on unit dose carts, sterile products, and bulk drug orders, adhering to strict sterile procedures and equipment maintenance.
  • Advise pharmacists of significant issues or problems connected with medications.
  • Perform compounding tasks, including intravenous and chemotherapy preparations, in support of hematology and oncology services.
  • Establish and maintain files for pharmacy operations, including prescription and patient records, stock and inventory records, and administrative files.
  • Monitor pharmaceutical inventory, receiving incoming stock, checking for discrepancies, and rotating stock for medication and supplies.
  • Assist in conducting medication storage area inspections to ensure adequate pharmaceutical supplies.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a structured pharmacy technician training program with a certificate or diploma.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature, including generic, chemical, and proprietary names of drugs, and dosage forms.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, with computer data entry skills.
  • Certification, registration, and/or authorizing documents must be verified.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
