Position Summary

The Pharmacy Operations Technician will support pharmacists in various operational tasks and ensure that medications are adequately stocked within pharmacy areas.

This role involves interacting with healthcare professionals to execute a range of technical pharmaceutical duties, including managing automated dispensing systems and maintaining inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately prepare, package, and label medications.
  • Process prescription orders online, ensuring proper billing procedures are followed.
  • Manage incoming communications regarding medications with professionalism.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within pharmacy areas.
  • Conduct inventory control processes, including cycle counts and expiration checks.
  • Safely operate controlled substance storage and adhere to all relevant regulations.
  • Direct inquiries requiring professional judgment to a licensed pharmacist.
  • Assist in training new pharmacy staff and interns.
  • Perform additional pharmacy-related duties as required by state regulations.

Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing inquiries and following up on issues related to medication.

Ensure timely replenishment of medications and supplies across various pharmacy locations, maintaining compliance with all operational standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in the relevant state.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with generic drug names and their uses.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and order entry.

Preferred:

  • Certification from an accredited pharmacy technician program.
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge of oncology medications.
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems.
