Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in the management of contracts and allocate a sufficient number of skilled independent adjusters to ensure that policyholders receive timely and proficient claims adjustments, adhering to established standards.
  • Support the Division Manager in developing criteria for auditing adjusters' outputs to confirm adherence to proper adjustment protocols, in line with industry benchmarks.
  • Aid in overseeing large loss and intricate claims that may escalate to legal matters. Assist in formulating defensive strategies for all contested claims and arbitrations.
  • Facilitate the organization of adjusters' training sessions, field days, etc., in partnership with the company. Compile and present loss adjustment data while staying updated on industry practices. Assist in informing adjusters and staff about procedural changes.
  • Help manage the review and prompt response to all oversight and audit findings, including compliance with regulatory bodies and internal audits.
  • Assist in creating protocols to ensure that adjusters comply with state licensing regulations for the areas serviced by the division.
  • Evaluate and enhance the claims process to identify efficiencies that could lead to a reduction in loss adjustment expenses, bringing insights to the Vice President of Claims.
  • Participate in managing the Division's Quality Control program, ensuring compliance with training requirements and the claims audit segment of the company's implementation plan.
  • Supervise the claims reporting processes within the internal office and the assignment of claim files to adjusters, in accordance with established company procedures. Train internal claims personnel on auditing and processing claims files.
  • Monitor loss adjustment expenses for the division and explore methods to enhance efficiency and integration with other field operations to lower costs.
  • Track loss ratio outcomes for the states within the division's territory to ensure that loss experiences remain below the industry average for the corresponding geographic region. Implement corrective measures if loss ratios consistently exceed industry standards.
  • Utilize data from the Quality Control program to inform recommendations for the renewal of contracts with independent adjusters and agents, following company-approved methodologies.
  • Engage in industry state loss committees and take on a leadership role.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of loss adjustment procedures for all products offered by the company.
  • Familiarity with the agricultural sector, including knowledge of the types of crops cultivated in the serviced states and relevant agricultural issues.
  • Capability to effectively guide the work of others, including making and communicating assignments and resolving issues affecting employees or adjusters.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the company's products, services, and systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient communication skills to maintain professional relationships with company personnel, external resources, and clients.
  • Competence in using company terminology, procedures, and systems.
  • Proficiency in using departmental equipment.
  • Capability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to remain composed and professional during high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in interpreting both oral and written communications.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as required.
  • Willingness to assist in other work-related areas as necessary.

A bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business or a related field is preferred, along with 6-8 years of relevant experience.
