About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer II to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our cardiovascular services team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and diagnostic services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Ultrasound Exams: Conduct a variety of ultrasound exams to diagnose and monitor cardiovascular conditions, including echocardiograms and vascular studies.
  • Prepare Patients: Ensure patients are properly prepared for exams, including explaining procedures and positioning patients for optimal imaging.
  • Operate Equipment: Safely and effectively operate ultrasound equipment, including calibrating and maintaining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report Results: Accurately and thoroughly report exam results to healthcare providers, including diagnostic findings and recommendations for further testing or treatment.
  • Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including cardiologists and radiologists, to ensure seamless patient care and diagnostic services.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field, or completion of a 12-month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible and become registered within 1 year from date of hire.
  • Experience: 1 year minimum experience in an acute hospital setting.
