Engine Builder I Job Description

We're seeking a skilled Engine Builder I to join our team at Roush. As an Engine Builder I, you will be responsible for assembling and building engines, as well as maintaining detailed records of component data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and build engines using industry-standard techniques
  • Measure components to close tolerances
  • Set and verify part clearances
  • Use measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Use required hand tools
  • Keep accurate engine build records with component history data
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of engine build or mechanic experience
  • Ability to operate typical shop equipment (hoists, jacks, hand tools, etc.)
  • Ability to diagnose engine mechanical issues
  • Basic computer skills and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Flexibility and eagerness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or post-high school education in an automotive-related field
  • Experience with powertrain calibration diagnostics and controls
  • Ability to complete engine teardown/build skills and follow 543 charts
  • Ability to perform simple fabrications
