Job Opportunity

The Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District (WCNRCD) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agricultural Resource Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in implementing conservation programs and projects in Windham County, working closely with partner agencies, towns, non-profit organizations, and individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement conservation and restoration programs and projects in Windham County
  • Provide outreach and education to producers on best management practices and conservation techniques
  • Assist farmers with nutrient management plan updates and design and implementation of educational programming related to water quality, soil health, and climate resilience
  • Work with farmers to enhance soil health, protect water quality, and build climate resilience
  • Support the 9-step conservation planning process to help farmers access financial assistance for conservation practices
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in natural resources, agricultural sciences, or a related field
  • At least three years of relevant practical experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service's 9-step conservation planning process
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in non-profit and/or government work environments
  • Experience in conservation planning using NRCS tools and systems
  • Experience in grant research, writing, and administration
