Overview of Your Role:
The main objective of this position is to configure and manage a diverse range of machinery and equipment. Responsibilities include machining, cutting, and utilizing milling and boring tools according to specifications, technical drawings, and other directives. The job entails the following tasks:


Equipment utilized encompasses, but is not limited to: CNC machinery, high-speed mills, lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, measuring and marking tools, fixtures for part machining, hand tools, gauges, drill presses, Bridgeport machines, Fishtail machines, saws, forklifts, cranes, and other lifting apparatus.


Leadership Responsibilities:
May offer guidance and suggestions to colleagues within the work area or department. Team members will collaborate to resolve issues and achieve departmental objectives.

Your Impact:
Work from documented manufacturing data and blueprints.
Examine the bill of materials and other details to ascertain necessary materials.
Prepare machinery for specific operations, ensuring adherence to precise tolerances.
Conduct various intricate setups.
Perform detailed layout tasks as needed. Interpret blueprints for operations and execute calculations essential for task completion. Cross-reference multiple drawings throughout the process.
Utilize various precision measurement instruments to confirm tolerances and dimensions.

Set up and operate advanced machinery, including horizontal and vertical milling machines, Haas CNC machines, and high-speed mills according to established instructions and work packages.

Gather tools, fixtures, and workpieces; retrieve relevant programs and load them into the controller; set tool sizes and depth dimensions for cuts.

Verify dimensions on the initial piece produced and periodically on subsequent pieces, making machine adjustments as required.
Modify programs as necessary and inform relevant personnel of any program discrepancies.
Set up and operate high-speed mills, lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, and other machinery.
Review blueprints and work packages for dimensions and other critical information; create new fixtures when required;
Assemble groups of components and transport them to the next stage.
Deburr excess materials from angles, edges, and holes, ensuring dimensions and appearance meet standards.
Insulate and test materials according to specifications.
Inspect machined dimensions using fixed gauges and micrometers. Obtain approval for the first piece before proceeding.
Conduct quality inspections and complete Quality Control Inspections (QCI) as necessary.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform additional duties as required.

Training & Preparation:


A comprehensive understanding of advanced shop mathematics is essential, along with the ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and handbook formulas, as well as proficiency in using various precision measuring instruments. This role typically requires completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent education.

Equivalent to a high school diploma plus two years of technical college education.

Qualifications:
With the requisite training and preparation, this role generally requires over one year and up to three years of experience.


Applicants must possess legal authorization for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Siemens Energy employees with existing visa sponsorship may qualify for internal transfers.

A high school diploma, GED, or technical vocational/apprenticeship training combined with relevant field service experience is required.

Analytical Skills and Creativity:


This position necessitates the ability to exercise judgment in planning, executing, and determining the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within the framework of recognized or standard methods and procedures.


Equipment and Process Responsibility:
The operator bears significant responsibility for equipment and processes.

The operator is accountable for the complete setup, adjustments, operation, and/or maintenance of equipment, where errors could lead to substantial damages and costs.


Material and Product Accountability:


Meticulous attention is required to prevent errors that could result in incorrectly machined parts that cannot be reworked, leading to costs associated with rework, missed shipment deadlines, and dissatisfied customers.


Safety Considerations:


Lack of attention, carelessness, or negligent operation of equipment or performance of duties may result in injuries to oneself or others.


Oversight of Others' Work:
Responsible for one's own work, or occasionally for one other individual.

Work Environment:
Good working conditions.

The operator may be exposed to noise, dust, heat, oil, and other elements, but none to a degree that is uncomfortable.


Mental Focus and Visual Attention:


This role requires frequent mental and visual focus, where the workflow is intermittent, or the operation involves waiting for a machine or process to complete a cycle, with periodic checks involved.


Physical Requirements:
Light (Over 5#, and up to 25#)/Continuous (Over 70%); Average (Over 25#, and up to 60#)/Frequent (Over 40% and up to 70%); Heavy (Over 60#)/Occasional (Over 15% and up to 40%)

Potential Hazards:


Injuries, if they occur, may result in lost time due to crushed hands or feet, loss of fingers or toes, eye injuries, chemical burns, etc.


Safety shoes and safety glasses are mandatory in the production area, and earplugs and hard hats are required in certain operations within the production area.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn when necessary.
