A Typical Day (Key Responsibilities):

As the Information System Security Manager (ISSM), your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting requirements gathering and analysis to understand security needs.
  • Performing functional analysis to delineate necessary tasks and their interconnections.
  • Mapping existing security infrastructure to establish a foundation for future initiatives.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams on systems integration projects.
  • Planning and coordinating the execution of IT security programs and policies.
  • Analyzing user requirements to determine both functional and cross-functional needs.
  • Collecting and organizing technical information regarding organizational mission goals, existing security solutions, and ongoing programs in the multi-level security landscape.
  • Identifying resources needed for each task through functional allocation.
  • Conducting risk analyses, including comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Facilitating government planning, coordination, and oversight of the implementation of information security services.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of future IT systems and their associated security measures.
  • Providing administrative and technical support to Program Managers for specific programs within the portfolio.
  • Resolving issues through integrated product teams and Technical Exchange Meetings (TEM).
  • Supporting the information assurance program for a program, organization, system, or enclave.
  • Offering daily oversight and guidance to contractor Information System Security Officers (ISSO).
  • Supervising engineering staff in the design, development, and implementation of security solutions.
  • Engaging with customers, IT personnel, and senior corporate leaders to define and achieve necessary cybersecurity objectives.
  • Serving as the Program's ISSM.
  • Assisting the government in developing and implementing IT security services.
  • Collaborating with engineers on systems integration and lifecycle requirements.
  • Advising Program Managers on administrative and technical oversight for portfolio programs.
  • Supporting Program Managers with administrative and technical oversight for specific programs.
  • Facilitating the design and implementation of future IT systems and related security.

Qualifications Required:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Compliance with DoD M and a minimum certification of IAM Level II.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant experience in security authorization.
  • Proficiency in current security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, and encryption techniques.
  • Familiarity with commercial security products, security authorization methods, incident management, and PKI services.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or IT Engineering is mandatory; alternatively, an additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
