Job Overview

A Litigation Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting attorneys and paralegals throughout the lifecycle of a case, from inception to resolution. This position involves the meticulous organization of documents and information essential for effective case management and trial preparation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes case files by establishing and maintaining comprehensive documentation; manages calendars; adheres to deadlines; and updates the case database for each client while confirming case status with the legal team.
  • Facilitates case development by maintaining communication with all parties involved; schedules depositions; prepares and submits legal documents; and generates status updates.
  • Informs clients of any changes regarding their cases, including rescheduling of depositions and other legal proceedings.
  • Monitors case expenses by verifying outstanding balances with legal counsel and service providers.
  • Prepares case summaries and materials for mediations, arbitrations, and depositions, which may include assembling comprehensive notebooks.
  • Enhances trial effectiveness by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and ensuring witness availability.
  • Drafts and manages notices for depositions, ensuring all procedural requirements are met and communicated to relevant parties.
  • Calendars critical dates for hearings and preparations, ensuring timely communication with clients regarding necessary actions.
  • Assists litigation paralegals with administrative tasks such as scanning, mailing, faxing, copying, and drafting correspondence.
  • Stays updated on industry knowledge through educational opportunities and professional literature.
  • Contributes to organizational goals by embracing new challenges and seeking opportunities to enhance job performance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct legal research, prepare trial documentation, file court papers, and maintain organized case files.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Personal Injury litigation setting.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in maintaining client communication and fostering effective relationships.
  • Skilled in analyzing medical records, accident reports, and related documentation.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Reliable and able to perform under pressure, especially with tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Filevine software is advantageous.
