About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at HNTB. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing assigned projects throughout their full lifecycle, from development to delivery. This includes developing project scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing the delivery of the project plan to successfully accomplish HNTB's 4 for 4 performance: delivery of quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client's satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage project scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents
  • Participate in contract negotiations and oversee the delivery of the project plan
  • Manage project team(s) for one or more projects with engineering fees up to $1M or lead and/or work as a discipline lead on a project management team with engineering fees between $1M and $5M
  • Implement the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project
  • Lead the development and execution of the project management plan
  • Supervise and mentor team to overall project objectives
  • Perform coordination with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff
  • Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience in winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4 for 4 on multi-disciplined projects
  • Leading a multidisciplinary project team and subconsultants
  • Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver smaller projects or task orders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Local municipal and/or Michigan DOT experience and relationships
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Michigan or PE Licensed in another state with the ability to become licensed in Michigan within 6 months
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working on transportation projects
  • Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) hydraulic design experience
  • Experience using MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Experience using HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS
