Job Overview

The Christman Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Superintendent to join our team in the West Michigan region. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on construction sites, ensuring the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the coordination of subcontractors, sequencing of work activities, and maintenance of the project schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with project safety rules, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement project-specific safety programs, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards, and ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and trade contractors to develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor and control project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment expenses.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks, and develop contingency plans to ensure project continuity.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project progress, including daily reports, weekly meetings, and project close-out documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of commercial construction experience in a leadership role as a Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Successful completion of classes or other training in Construction Management, Project Management, Safety, or Communication.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and experience with project management software.
