Job Summary:

As a Radiologic Technologist IV at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, you will operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images of the body, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation, demonstrating a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, adjusting immobilization devices as needed.
  • Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body portion involved, moving imaging equipment into specified positions.
  • Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedsides.
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians, processing and reviewing images for proper identification and quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Orient new hires and train students, filling in as necessary in the absence of the Supervising Radiology Technologist.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Specialty (IR, CT, Mammography, or Quality Management) or one year of experience in a Specialty with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in that Specialty.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California) and Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties on patients of all ages as determined by the employer.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups with varying knowledge of Radiology services.
