Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and visitors, offering courteous and professional assistance to everyone who contacts the office.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide non-medical information or direct individuals to the appropriate department.
  • Handle telephone calls in a clear, calm, and professional manner.
  • Assess call urgency and promptly route calls to the appropriate party.
  • Manage patient appointments by scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling as per office protocols.
  • Collect, verify, and input demographic and insurance details for new and returning patients, essential for electronic health records and insurance claims.
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily financial activities in preparation for deposits.
  • Work independently and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinic Administrator to support efficient office operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent vocational training.
  • Mandatory Reporter certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in entering information into various computer applications.
  • Ability to understand and apply relevant guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Effective interaction with physicians, healthcare team members, and patients.
  • Strong communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records or medical office software is advantageous.
  • Experience with coding diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9-CM and CPT is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
