The Assistant Director of Nursing is a key member of the MedStar Health nursing leadership team, responsible for providing leadership and oversight to a specific unit or department. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive quality and patient safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement unit-based goals, objectives, and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to develop and maintain effective relationships with interdisciplinary teams and departments to ensure efficient and quality patient care services.
- Evaluate and develop standards of performance for associates, conduct performance management planning, and initiate or recommend personnel actions as needed.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and management of the unit-based budget and support organizational objectives, patient care standards, and quality of care.
- Implement approaches and strategies to optimize patient care delivery and outcomes, ensuring effective utilization of the interdisciplinary model of care and associated standards of excellence.
- Support and promote quality and patient safety initiatives, lead unit-based safety huddles, and escalate care delivery concerns to the Director of Nursing and other leaders as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing in the hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of personnel within the assigned unit or department, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program required.
- Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from a nationally accredited program preferred.
- 3-4 years progressive nursing care experience required.
- Leadership and management experience preferred.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in Maryland required.
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
