Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Talent Development to join our Organizational Effectiveness team within the Office of Information Technology at Princeton University. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of comprehensive and integrative talent development and learning plans for all OIT and SCAD/DCS employees.

This is a hybrid work environment that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to anticipate, research, and recommend plans for the wide-ranging professional technical development needs of OIT.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Development

  • Provide leadership and management in enhancing and implementing the IT Academy, a comprehensive certificate program open to all information technology staff in OIT and across the University.
  • Lead and identify skill development needs for IT professionals at Princeton by working closely with the IT technical leads to conduct a skill needs assessment for staff at all levels of the organization to produce a comprehensive talent development plan.
  • Ensure that OIT's comprehensive learning program addresses critical service goals identified in OIT's strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with OIT's senior leaders to centrally manage the vendor learning portfolio to meet the dynamic needs of the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of OE on the development of initiatives for the SCAD/DCS community that align to OIT's strategic plan.
  • Research and keep abreast of industry technologies and trends, and partner with organizational leaders to develop comprehensive talent development strategies that advance the technical expertise of our technical teams.
  • Proactively design and develop programs to suit the transformative and experiential learning needs of the organization.
  • Monitor and adjust the existing framework of professional development to keep pace with swiftly changing organizational needs.
  • Develop and coordinate instructor-led, e-learning, and self-study programs to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Proactively collaborate with OIT's leadership to manage instructor-led technical training curriculum open to the University staff.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) Learning & Development and Diversity and Inclusion departments to develop, leverage, and coordinate existing programs to match the needs of OIT staff.
  • Create and manage evaluation and feedback process for all professional development and training requests.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders from all departments to create learning opportunities for staff, supervisors, managers, and leaders.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate the success of OIT's L&D offerings and to recommend changes in such offerings as needed.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives

  • Lead the execution of the development initiatives as identified by OIT's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Plan.
  • Proactively collaborate with OHR Diversity and Inclusion unit to implement a DEI learning path for all OIT staff.
  • Collaborate with the OHR Diversity & Inclusion team to develop and leverage diversity and inclusion training programs.

Organizational Effectiveness Team Support

  • Provide management of the University's Employee Learning Management System to ensure technical issues with users are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the further development of OIT's onboarding program.
  • Maintain organizational focus on OIT Core Values: teamwork, innovation, integrity, inclusiveness, respect, and sustainability and integrate the Core Values into all that we deliver.
  • Design and deliver team-building activities and facilitate discussions across the organization.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • 8-10 years related work experience leading talent and organizational development and/or learning and development across a large organization.
  • Experience in instructional design and development.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and managing professional staff development programs and initiatives at the organization/division level.
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated record of success in building culture and leading staff development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of talent development standards including training needs assessment, learning styles, curriculum design, management development, etc.
  • Strategic planning and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills with staff at all levels.
  • Experience working in a large-scale organization.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize demands of various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to five years' experience in developing learning programs for information technology professionals.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification in talent development, organizational development, learning and development.
  • Two to four years' experience working in human resources and/or a human resources certification.
  • Knowledge of standards for workplace measurement and human resources metrics.
  • Experience with initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in an organization.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
