Position Overview

The F-16 Flight Simulator Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive instruction on F-16CM Aircraft Systems and operational protocols within various training environments, including classrooms and simulators. This position also involves contributing as a Subject Matter Expert in the creation of new curriculum for specialized courses as needed. Additional responsibilities may encompass courseware evaluations, scenario design, and various administrative tasks such as publications management, safety assessments, quality audits, scheduling, and security oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training sessions for simulator RAP, DMO, LSB, and Distributed Live Control tactical and fundamental mission events.
  • Facilitate aircrew upgrade training and provide academic support through simulator training.
  • Design and oversee realistic training scenarios that support RAP/DMO/LSB tactical mission events, Distributed Live Control exercises, and foundational aircrew skills training.
  • Maintain daily logs of simulator usage and report on the training progress of each aircrew member to local training officer representatives.
  • Operate various training consoles, including the Mission Training Center (MTC), Unit Training Device (UTD), and Weapons and Tactics Trainer (WTT), to support Air Force and Joint tactical exercises.
  • Serve as event manager for Air Force and Joint tactical exercises and Distributed Live Control events.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, record maintenance, student progress monitoring, quality assurance, safety protocols, and equipment upkeep.
  • Ensure proficiency in the operation of essential F-16 Aircrew Training Devices.
  • Possess prior aircraft operating experience and the ability to establish credibility and engage effectively with trainees.
  • Meet specific AFI 11-2F MDS requirements, demonstrate knowledge of current tactics and employment standards, and maintain physical qualifications for simulator operation.
  • Prepare necessary reports as directed by management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A minimum of five years of experience with any combination of A-10, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, or F-117 aircraft is required.

  • At least 500 flight hours in one or any combination of A-10, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, or F-117 aircraft.
  • Instructor experience (indicated by a "K" prefix in Air Force Specialty Code AFSC) in A-10, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, or F-117 aircraft.
  • Contract personnel must be capable of flying the simulator as a 2 or 4-ship flight lead using current tactics and employment standards, while maintaining ground training currency and physical qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IRC instructor credentials, specifically a graduate of the AF Advanced Instrument School (AIS).
  • Experience in delivering Military Pilot Academic and Simulator Training for fourth and/or fifth generation tactical fighter aircraft.
  • Familiarity with advanced sensor systems, including NVS, LANTIRN, Helmet Mounted Cueing, and the latest weaponry.
  • Completion of a formal military Academic Instructor Course (AIC).
  • Instructor Pilot experience in a Formal Training Unit (FTU) or Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS).
  • Graduation from the Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC).
  • Top Gun: Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) graduate status.
  • Standardization/Evaluation Flight Examiner (SEFE) or NATOPS Evaluator experience.
  • Experience with training management systems (TMS), learning management systems (LMS), and electronic grade books.

Security Clearance:

  • Eligibility for Secret Security Clearance and SCI eligibility per the Special Access Program Nomination Process (SAPNP) is required.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of performing normal office tasks and able to enter and exit the simulator. Ability to stand and deliver academic instruction for up to six hours daily is necessary.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a standard office setting, with communication via computer, telephone, and meetings with clients.
