POSITION SUMMARY:
This position oversees the heavy maintenance and logistical support for designated aircraft.

It involves providing direction and prioritization while maintaining oversight of Work Center Supervisors, Logs and Records, and Maintenance Controllers for both short- and long-term work assignments.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountable for the maintenance overhaul, repair, and modification of aircraft at the designated facility.


Demonstrates a successful history of managing a large team of A&P technicians across various locations, particularly with F-16 fighter maintenance and operational experience.


Evaluates and recommends optimal departmental organization, including personnel, facilities, and equipment adjustments necessary for task completion.

Plans and distributes workload to maximize efficiency and productivity among technicians.

Conducts performance evaluations and provides counseling for the maintenance workforce, including annual assessments.

Collaborates closely with fleet management and the Maintenance Technical Manager to plan heavy maintenance and aircraft modifications.

Responsible for the approval of timesheets, vacation requests, and expense reports for team members.

Works in conjunction with the VP of Maintenance and Supply Chain and HR to address performance and disciplinary matters, fostering teamwork and recognizing individual contributions.

Ensures adequate training for both permanent and temporary staff within the department.

Prepares annual budget projections and identifies departmental needs.


Maintains effective communication with the Flight Operations Maintenance Manager, Operations, Finance, Supply, and production supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities.

Ensures adherence to maintenance, safety, and security protocols to achieve optimal operational performance.

Monitors the company's ERP system to confirm that all maintenance personnel are properly qualified and trained for their tasks.

Reviews completed audits and suggests necessary training to enhance awareness.

Directs and ensures accurate logbook and record entries are maintained.


Manages various programs for all aircraft within the heavy maintenance department, including Oil Consumption, Maintenance Discrepancy Reporting, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention, Parts on Order Reconciliation, and the safe release of aircraft for flight.

Accountable to the VP of Maintenance and Supply Chain for the overall productivity and material support of the department.

Facilitates local manufacturing capabilities to meet mission objectives.


Oversees structural repairs, corrosion control, inspections, damage assessments, and modifications of aircraft components and related hardware.

Ensures all welders are certified in relevant base metal groups.

Ensures the design, fabrication, protection, and proper storage of special tools, jigs, and fixtures.

Guarantees the capability to perform various inspections as required.

Manages the assembly, repair, testing, and storage of wheel and tire components.

Monitors critical equipment levels and coordinates with Supply to initiate repair actions as necessary.


Develops standardized inspection flow plans to assist in managing inspection progress and controlling dock personnel and support specialists.

Oversees the implementation of aircraft modifications as directed by the Maintenance Technical Manager.

Provides Fleet Management with inspection documentation upon completion of inspections.

Ensures that serially-controlled components are reinstalled on the same aircraft and position from which they were removed.

NOTE:

If it becomes necessary to install serially-controlled components in a different position, the Heavy Maintenance Supervisor will inform Fleet Management to update the records.

Responsible for Jet Engine Intermediate Maintenance (JEIM), Engine Test Stands (ETS), and Noise Suppression Systems (NSS).


Ensures in-shop CANN actions are executed in accordance with procedures and coordinates with the Flight Operations manager for any fleet-wide CANN actions.


Conducts planning meetings prior to each phase inspection with Fleet Management, production supervision, and the Flight Operations Manager to ensure effective and timely completion of inspections.

Coordinates with Supply Chain to ensure all necessary parts and equipment are available to complete aircraft modifications on schedule.

Maintains aircraft logs and records for associated equipment and support systems, including weight and balance data and inventory logs.

Collaborates with the Flight Operations Manager and site leads for maintenance support.


Must be capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing excellent customer service.


Ability to work independently and complete assignments within established guidelines and accepted practices.

Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficient in computer applications (MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and Electronic Record Keeping Systems).

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license/certification preferred.

Inspection Authorization (IA) certification strongly preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred; or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and training, or a combination of education and experience.

Extensive maintenance experience with F-16 early version aircraft.

5+ years of experience managing Aircraft Technicians.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Business experience outside the military is highly desirable.

Knowledge of government contracting is required.

Experience working with the FAA and comprehensive knowledge of 14 CFR 91 & 135 is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, walk, and hear. The employee may occasionally need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This role requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee is expected to work in both office and outdoor environments.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and vibrations and is often exposed to extreme temperatures and humidity.

The employee may occasionally work in high places and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical hazards.

The noise level can be very loud at times.
