Job Summary

As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by interpreting and reporting test results. You will perform routine and complex technical laboratory analyses using established procedures and protocols, ensuring accuracy and precision in your work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of laboratory tests, from simple blood tests to complex tests, to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians, escalating unusual, critical, or abnormal results as needed.
  • Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments, maintaining accuracy and performing established preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Assist providers in choosing appropriate lab tests and perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments, and assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments in the field by reviewing current literature and attending meetings and seminars.
  • Participate in the proficiency testing program in the lab and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
