Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at SSM Health. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a full range of laboratory tests, interpreting test results, and communicating findings to physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex technical laboratory analyses using established procedures and protocols.
  • Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians.
  • Escalate unusual, critical or abnormal results.
  • Operate complex electronic equipment, computers and precision instruments.
  • Maintain accuracy of equipment and reagents by performing established preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Assist providers in choosing appropriate lab tests.
  • Perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot instruments.
  • Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
  • Review current literature and attend meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in the field.
  • Assist in the proficiency testing program in the lab.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
