Job Summary:

As a Pump Mechanic at Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc., you will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and testing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Your expertise will be essential in identifying parts for replacement and machines that need new parts, and placing orders as necessary. This role requires a strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. You will work under general supervision and typically report to a Pump Mechanic IV or Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect pumps for repair and use various power tools to disassemble and reassemble pumps for repair.
  • Remove tanks and pump ends from units and maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
  • Clean parts with a parts washer and hand-held grinding wheel and use overhead cranes and powered industrial trucks to handle materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper attendance and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required; Entry Level Position.
  • General knowledge of mechanics is required.
  • Experience with portable construction pumps, pipe fusing, dewatering, and wastewater by-pass operations is highly desired.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans/programs, safety training materials, and SDS sheets.
  • Requires the ability to use various measuring devices.
