Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pump Mechanic to join our team at Thompson Pump and Manufacturing Co., Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and testing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect pumps for repair and identify parts that need replacement.
  • Use various power tools to disassemble and reassemble pumps for repair.
  • Remove tanks and pump ends from units and maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
  • Clean parts with a parts washer and hand-held grinding wheel.
  • Operate overhead cranes and powered industrial trucks to handle materials.
  • Ensure proper attendance and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; an entry-level position.
  • General knowledge of mechanics is essential.
  • Experience with portable construction pumps, pipe fusing, dewatering, and wastewater bypass operations is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans/programs, safety training materials, and SDS sheets.
  • Requires the ability to use various measuring devices.
