Job Summary

Directs and manages risk control activities, recruits and develops risk control staff, and ensures effective risk selection and expense management to achieve growth, profitability, and customer service objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages overall operations of designated area of authority, including interviewing, hiring, training, and directing personnel.
  • Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline, and oversees employee development as required.
  • Supervises the risk control and risk assessment process to ensure appropriate risk selection and expense management.
  • Assists the vice president in developing short-range objectives, budgets, and tactical plans to ensure alignment with Erie Insurance's corporate strategy.
  • Collaborates with commercial lines product managers and marketing staff on competitive issues, including rate reviews and rate recommendations.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with branch sales, claims, and commercial underwriting functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Risk Management and Insurance, Business Management, or related field, and eight years of professional experience in safety or property/casualty insurance.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Risk Management designation (ARM, CRM, CIC, CPCU, ALCM, ASP, or CSP) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Work Environment

This position will manage Risk Control Consultants in the Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee branch territories. Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company.
