Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at QBE Americas, Inc. As a key member of our Accident and Health (A&H) underwriting team, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate moderately complex underwriting business, applying sound underwriting judgment and adhering to company policy and state regulations.
  • Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan, negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for existing and new business.
  • Prepare quote workups and release within authorized parameters, ensuring adherence to loss ratio goals.
  • Identify poor cases within blocks, achieve expected rate increase averages, and persistency goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with agents and customers to understand their needs and provide products that respond to those needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in underwriting, preferably in a high-production environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively present logic, reasoning, and analysis to others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and adapting to changing circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Underwriting experience in Accident and Health business.
  • Broad working knowledge of products and concepts relating to the insurance industry.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it for decision-making.
