About the Position:

KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a dedicated and proactive Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding Special Projects Group. This role is pivotal in enhancing our team’s capabilities in delivering innovative solutions for waterfront and industrial infrastructure projects.

As a vital contributor, you will engage in a variety of projects, leveraging your expertise in waterfront infrastructure while also expanding your skills in design, project management, and client relations.


Key Responsibilities:

Structural Design and Development:


Utilize your engineering knowledge to tackle diverse projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create effective solutions in areas such as:

  • Pile design
  • Bulkhead wall construction
  • Prestressed concrete applications
  • Seismic design considerations for port developments
  • Marine engineering and terminal design
  • Shipyard and marina projects
  • Floating structures

Engage in waterfront infrastructure and industrial development projects, applying your skills to ensure successful project execution. You will also learn to evaluate risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.


Project Leadership:

Oversee project tasks, ensuring effective coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve project goals. Conduct site visits and inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Additionally, mentor junior team members to foster their professional development.


Client Engagement and Service Excellence:


Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by actively understanding their needs, providing clear communication, and delivering tailored solutions that meet their objectives. Act as a trusted advisor, offering expert guidance and support throughout all project phases.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of structural design experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience in concrete, steel, and timber design
  • Familiarity with pile design and bulkhead wall construction
  • Knowledge of prestressed concrete and seismic design
  • Understanding of relevant codes and standards (ASCE, AASHTO, IBC, etc.)
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as SAP2000 and L-Pile
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Commitment to exceptional client service

Work Environment:


This position primarily operates in an office setting, requiring extended periods of sitting at a desk or computer. Occasional lifting of objects up to 15 lbs may be necessary. Field inspections may involve walking, standing, or navigating uneven terrain.
