Job Summary

The Spanish Instructor will be responsible for creating rigorous, objective-driven, arts-infused units, lessons, and performance tasks using state standards, course overviews, and planning templates. The instructor will identify the thinking skills to be explicitly taught and practiced, as well as the physical, social, or content skills students will be able to demonstrate. The instructor will differentiate for individual students based on their unique learning needs, ensuring all students are appropriately engaged and challenged.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate state standards, course overviews, and planning templates.
  • Identify and explicitly teach thinking skills, physical, social, or content skills, and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery.
  • Differentiate instruction for individual students based on their unique learning needs.
  • Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting big goals.
  • Develop standards-based performances tasks and curricular assessment.
  • Create a focused environment of fairness and respect that encourages students to take risks and strive to reach goals.
  • Maintain appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with a major or minor in Spanish.
  • Current MSDE teaching license in Secondary Spanish Language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's in Spanish Language Arts.
  • Two years of experience teaching in an urban setting.
