The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) intern to join our team. As an APP intern, you will work alongside our experienced physicians and staff to gain hands-on experience in the operating room, inpatient, and ambulatory settings.
This is a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills and knowledge in a tertiary Otolaryngology practice, inclusive of multiple subspecialties such as head and neck oncology, skull base surgery, facial plastic surgery, laryngology, and airway disorders.
You will have access to journal clubs, multidisciplinary meetings, temporal bone lab, and other facilities of the academic health system. A willingness and interest to work in a teaching environment is a must.
Responsibilities- Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans
- Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice
- Participate in research and development projects
- Participate in education of APPs, APP students, and medical students
- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program
- Three (3) years nursing experience; additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty
- Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority
- Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty
Please note that this is a full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday position for the duration of the internship.
