Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join its Department of Emergency Medicine. As a key member of the team, you will provide emergent care in the emergency setting, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic academic unit within the College of Medicine, responsible for the medical direction of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Center for Emergency Care (CEC), and the Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program.

We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a strong background in emergency medicine, who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of cutting-edge procedures and research.

Essential Functions

  • Perform physical exams based on age and patient history, in collaboration with a collaborating physician.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and healthcare needs.
  • Develop treatment plans in collaboration with the physician and members of the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by state and University of Cincinnati Medical Center prescriptive authority.
  • Participate in research relative to area of specialty.
  • Develop and participate in providing evidence-based education presentations and other learning activities for diverse disciplines.
  • Participate in Medical Team Rounds.
  • Contribute to Quality Management, data collection, and performance improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program, active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority, and active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
  • Physician Assistant: Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority, and Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
