Position Overview

The System Test Engineer collaborates with diverse teams including design engineers, clients, supply chain personnel, and project managers to ensure the development of high-quality and reliable products. The ideal candidate should possess a background in system integration testing, particularly in Storage/Server, GPU, and networking domains. Responsibilities include guiding the creation of Celestica's Storage/GPU/network system integration and verification strategies, which encompass element function testing, hardware integration assessments, and system verification processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for hardware, network, and software issues.
  • Debug complex high-end servers and hyperscale compute & network systems, including the installation of applications and operating systems.
  • Lead the design and execution of system integration testing solutions for intricate projects involving multiple systems, while participating in project planning and scheduling.
  • Analyze product/system requirements and specifications to establish system integration and validation strategies.
  • Fulfill all validation and qualification requirements utilizing statistical methods and industry standards.
  • Devise, develop, and implement testing procedures for assessing systems' security, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with design teams to formulate and deliver test matrices for new products, ensuring compliance with required hardware testing coverage.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a significant team of engineers, potentially becoming a recognized authority in system integration testing.
  • Automate system integration testing processes to enhance development efficiency, improve quality, and minimize errors.
  • Work alongside the software team to define and validate diagnostic tools for new product prototype verification and validation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized testing devices.
  • Proficient in creating test plans, executing tests, and generating reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with stress testing utilities including stressapp, stress-ng, iperf3, fio, and memtester.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, specifically SLES, RHEL, Ubuntu, and CentOS.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team of engineers involved in hardware specification, design, development, and testing.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and VBA.
  • Experience in system/software/firmware integration and verification.

Additional Preferences

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Understanding of x86 architecture, firmware, and Linux.
  • Familiarity with testing tools such as JIRA, Jenkins, and similar platforms.
  • Experience working with external clients.
  • Project management experience with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment.
  • Prior experience in operating and programming network testers (Traffic generators like Keysight/Ixia or Spirent).
  • Experience in rack integration and high-power system testing is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and sustained visual focus on computer screens or detailed data.
  • Frequent repetitive manual tasks such as data entry and using a computer mouse.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.

  • 6+ years of relevant experience.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
