Job Summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a highly skilled Energy and Sustainability Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct energy audits of district facilities to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement energy-saving strategies and initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze energy usage data to track progress and identify trends.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to optimize HVAC, lighting, and other systems for energy efficiency.
Sustainability Projects
  • Plan and manage sustainability projects such as green building initiatives, renewable energy installations, and waste reduction programs.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects align with sustainability goals.
Education and Outreach
  • Create educational materials and programs to promote sustainability awareness among students and staff.
  • Organize events, workshops, and campaigns to engage the school community in sustainability efforts.
  • Serve as a liaison to external organizations and agencies on sustainability issues.
Policy Development
  • Develop and recommend policies related to energy use, recycling, and sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental practices.
  • Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in sustainability and energy management.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of energy use, recycling metrics, and sustainability project outcomes.
  • Prepare and present reports to the Chief Operating Officer, administration, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop annual sustainability reports highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy management, sustainability, and environmental science, as well as excellent project management and communication skills. Salary Range: $59,701 - $68,904 per year
