We are seeking a highly skilled Geothermal Energy Discipline Leader to join our team at CDM Smith. As a leader in the field of geothermal energy, you will be responsible for developing and implementing geothermal systems master planning and studies, conceptual and basis of design technical documents, and detailed design of geothermal heating and cooling systems for sustainability and energy efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead teams to create engineering designs, including geothermal systems master planning and studies, conceptual and basis of design technical documents, and detailed design of geothermal heating and cooling systems.
- Design systems of moderate to high complexity as necessary to meet client requirements.
- Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs).
- Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
- Perform site assessments and studies as needed to ensure designs are aligned with industry standards and local requirements.
- Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external clients and related industry contacts.
- Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
- Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 12 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Knowledge of governmental and utility incentive programs for sustainable heating and cooling (e.g., NYSERDA - New York State Energy and Research Development Authority) preferred.
- Experience developing Building Heating and Cooling Load Modeling & Life Cycle Cost Analysis to support design development and alternative analysis preferred.
- AEE Certified GeoExchange Designer preferred.
- IGSHPA Certified Geothermal Inspector preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
