We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Services Representative to join our Urology team. As a key member of our patient services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a positive experience for our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clear and concise instructions to patients to help them navigate the healthcare system.
- Follow up with patients to resolve any questions or concerns they may have, ensuring continuity of care.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including scanning medical records and faxing documents.
- Guide patients through the use of self-arrival technology or check them in at the desk, depending on their preference.
- Schedule or connect patients to resources for ancillary services at checkout.
- Understand and apply the principles of service recovery to resolve any issues that may arise.
- Assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities and connect them to advocacy resources as needed.
- Obtain signatures from patients or their family members for consent to treatment and financial responsibility, in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Verify insurance benefits with carriers using online systems or phone inquiries.
- Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with registration when applicable.
- Collect copayments and other patient payments at the point of service.
- Provide a warm greeting to all patients.
- Register patients in the Biometrics program and explain its benefits.
- Update patient registration information at checkout.
- Triage phone calls to other areas or clinical providers as needed.
- Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Experience with personal computer applications, office equipment, and typing skills preferred.
- Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems preferred.
- Act 34 clearance required.
