Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Services Representative to join our Urology team. As a key member of our patient services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a positive experience for our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to patients to help them navigate the healthcare system.
  • Follow up with patients to resolve any questions or concerns they may have, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including scanning medical records and faxing documents.
  • Guide patients through the use of self-arrival technology or check them in at the desk, depending on their preference.
  • Schedule or connect patients to resources for ancillary services at checkout.
  • Understand and apply the principles of service recovery to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities and connect them to advocacy resources as needed.
  • Obtain signatures from patients or their family members for consent to treatment and financial responsibility, in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Verify insurance benefits with carriers using online systems or phone inquiries.
  • Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with registration when applicable.
  • Collect copayments and other patient payments at the point of service.
  • Provide a warm greeting to all patients.
  • Register patients in the Biometrics program and explain its benefits.
  • Update patient registration information at checkout.
  • Triage phone calls to other areas or clinical providers as needed.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Experience with personal computer applications, office equipment, and typing skills preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems preferred.
  • Act 34 clearance required.
