Position Summary: The Assistant Construction Manager will set and execute both short-term and long-term goals for the designated department, manage relevant functions and activities, and enforce company policies and procedures. This role involves comprehensive engagement in operational activities and may include specific assignments aimed at assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of various departments. It is anticipated that all Assistant Managers will progress to managerial roles in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • May participate in the recruitment and training of new personnel or assist management in this area.
  • Oversees and coordinates the daily workflow of the production team, sales personnel, and/or administrative staff, typically focusing on one or two departments at a time.
  • As directed by the Manager, conducts or aids in timely and constructive performance evaluations for staff.
  • Assists the manager with personnel matters, including disciplinary actions and employee terminations in line with company policy.
  • Expected to gain comprehensive knowledge of the business from the ground up, which will necessitate performing various roles within the company alongside initial management duties.

Additional Duties:

  • Required to learn, implement, and manage safety protocols within the company.
  • Monitors departmental performance, identifying and facilitating opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborates closely with multiple branch managers and executive staff for training and development.
  • Manages daily operations of the department(s) and its personnel to ensure that projects and tasks are completed, meeting both goals and customer expectations.
  • Works with other managers to plan, direct, and coordinate programs and projects effectively.
  • Analyzes costs, benefits, and losses in collaboration with other managers to optimize company profits.
  • Prepares, submits, and presents various performance and management reports.
  • Oversees inventory management, facilitating purchases as necessary; negotiates pricing contracts and verifies costs and receipts.
  • Addresses conflicts and resolves complaints within the department(s).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for training purposes.
  • Ability to accept direction and input from all team members, recognizing that mastery of the trade takes time and collaboration.
  • Capability to create and present ideas, reports, and budgets in various formats.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to assign and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, problems, and situations as they arise, with training and coaching provided to develop this skill quickly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Optional: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Recommended but not mandatory: Three years of relevant experience within the industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be physically capable of performing extensive job walks, including climbing up to 10 flights of stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must be physically able to operate company vehicles and rented equipment (training will be provided).
