Job Summary

As an Inventory Planner at American Iron & Metal, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of stock purchases by liaising and negotiating with vendors and suppliers. You will also coordinate the logistics of purchase orders, stock transfers, deliveries, tagging, and processing. Additionally, you will input and access inventory data through a computerized maintenance management information system, troubleshoot records for inventory control, and perform administrative functions such as typing, filing, and maintaining detailed records. You will also compile, classify, collate, and organize information, maintain electronic and paper records and reports, and ensure coordination of activities to meet department objectives. Furthermore, you will provide clear spoken and written information to supervisors and managers regarding the status of situations or orders, answer inquiries about the maintenance/inventory management system or procedures, and cooperate with peers, managers, and operations personnel to act as a liaison between other employees and departments when it comes to physical inventory or parts and supplies. You will also track and issue safety PPE supplies to department leads via assigned department storage spaces, perform regular stock checks, and report any issues to the supervisor. Finally, you will maintain and update records of purchase orders, pricing reports, and inventory records.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate's degree or relevant certification being a plus. You will also need proven experience as an inventory clerk, stock clerk, or in a similar role, familiarity with inventory management software and databases, basic math skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, you will need strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, good communication skills, and the ability to work well with a team. Finally, you will need physical stamina to lift and move inventory as needed.
