Job Title: Lead Airport Maintenance Tech - Landside

Join AvPORTS as a Lead Airport Maintenance Tech - Landside and be part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our airport facilities.

Job Summary:

The Lead Airport Maintenance Tech - Landside is a key member of the Maintenance Department, reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. This role requires a high level of autonomy, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to drive the directives of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor in day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of tasks related to airport maintenance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical and mechanical work.
  • Operate airport heavy equipment, grass cutting equipment, and snow removal equipment.
  • Complete routine and non-routine landscaping tasks, including mowing landside grass areas and removing weeds and debris from landside facilities.
  • Perform routine safety inspections of grounds and facilities, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
  • Maintain equipment and work environments in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
  • Assist in crowd control and other special function requirements.
  • Assist in custodial cleanup of airport facilities.
  • Utilize a two-way radio to communicate with other airport personnel.
  • Wear and maintain employee uniform while on duty.
  • Work varied shifts, including mandatory overtime.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three years of landscape maintenance or related experience.
  • Electrical license certification highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in a one-on-one situation or small group setting.
  • Knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials of ground maintenance.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties without supervision and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, and feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing; and smelling. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects weighing more than 50 pounds.

This role requires a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions.
