FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The A&P Technician is responsible for the repair, testing, and maintenance of aircraft engines, components, and systems in compliance with FAA regulations and customer specifications. This role involves conducting inspections during the assembly of parts and after the repair or installation of components. The technician documents maintenance activities, including component damage, origin, and condition. Safety is paramount, and the technician ensures that quality products are delivered without defects. The Ride on Mechanic operates on a schedule of twenty days on duty followed by ten days off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts servicing, inspections, and maintenance of aircraft, engines, and related components.
  • Completes work efficiently to meet deadlines and performance objectives in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaborates with flight crews to review aircraft log entries upon arrival.
  • Adheres to the General Maintenance Manual, company policies, and all relevant FAA and DOT regulations, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Performs repairs, maintenance, overhaul, and inspections of assigned equipment and aircraft as dictated by location requirements.
  • Troubleshoots systems, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles components to ensure operational integrity.
  • Keeps work areas, vehicles, and materials organized and safe.
  • Takes responsibility for the quality of work performed, ensuring all tasks are completed effectively and safely.
  • When authorized, conducts inspections of designated Required Inspection Items.
  • Maintains an inventory of flyaway kits, including serviceable and unserviceable parts, and coordinates the return of used items.
  • Responsible for fueling and defueling operations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Role: None

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • FAA Certified mechanic with Airframe and Powerplant ratings and a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Physical capability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop in confined spaces.
  • Ability to operate various vehicles and equipment after appropriate training.
  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 20 feet or more.
  • Proficient in using tools such as jacks, welders, torches, paint guns, sanders, and drill presses.
  • Ability to navigate in and out of aircraft as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver License with a record that meets company insurance standards.
  • Must pass a background check, which may include a pre-employment drug test.
  • Legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Ability to perform repairs efficiently in high-pressure situations and various weather conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and utilize technical manuals effectively.
  • Capacity to maintain focus and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Organized, self-directed, and a team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of maintenance software applications.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Federal Communications Commission license is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods at a workstation, using a keyboard, viewing a computer screen, and communicating via telephone and in person.
  • Ability to lift and move machine parts weighing up to 70 pounds and maneuver items weighing up to 125 pounds with assistance.

Work Environment:

  • Airport tarmac.
  • Outdoor and office settings.
  • Variable work shifts.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel for maintenance training and aircraft familiarization.
