Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Interpreter to join our team at Good Samaritan Medical Center. As a Medical Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers who speak different languages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret medical information between patients and healthcare providers in a variety of settings, including in-person, phone, and video calls.
  • Provide cultural and linguistic support to patients and families who are limited English proficient or have other communication needs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure that patients receive high-quality care and have a positive experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with medical terminology and procedures to provide accurate and effective interpretation services.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and one or more foreign languages, both oral and written.
  • Ability to accurately interpret medical information in consecutive and simultaneous modes.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
