As a Medical Office Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team./ppbKey Responsibilities:/b/pulliAnswer and screen all telephone calls in a professional manner, documenting and processing messages accordingly./liliAccommodate patient appointments, maintain, update, and track provider schedules./liliCheck insurance eligibility and enter correct insurance information and codes properly./liliUpdate patient demographics each time an appointment or message is made./liliCoordinate provider office schedules to accommodate external obligations./liliInform patients of their responsibility regarding confirmation of insurance coverage, prior approvals, and referrals as needed./liliEnsure that referrals are in place when working in specialty departments./liliAssist with efficient patient flow and communicate physician/provider delays to patients./liliMonitor arrival and pending lists, canceling and rescheduling appointments to utilize all available slots./liliAddress reminder lists, ER lists, and insurance lists in a timely manner and document in patient charts if applicable./liliObtain same-day and/or stat records from HIS and secure patient information from hospitals./liliPeriodically address messages with physicians/providers./liliFacilitate internal and external referral appointments and hospital admissions./liliFamiliar with general office equipment and maintain upkeep of printers, fax machines, copiers, etc./liliNotify Practice Manager of equipment and system failures immediately./liliFacilitate mail delivery, place MR # on all patient mail before giving to MD./liliProvide appropriate paperwork to patients./liliEnsure that MVA and WC forms are completed./liliCollect co-payments and post payments, balance, verify, and reconcile batch./liliRefer patients to billing office with insurance or payment problems./liliMaintain open communication with physicians, staff, and patients./liliAssist in orienting and training others in the functions and duties of the position./liliReport patient complaints directly to the Practice Manager./liliAssist peers in other roles when workload warrants, perform other duties as necessary./liliDemonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment./liliCommit to recognizing and respecting cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external)./liliCommunicate effectively with internal and external customers with respect for differences in cultures, values, beliefs, and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed./li/ulpbRequirements:/b/pulliHigh School diploma or equivalent./liliPleasant and helpful demeanor, especially when interacting with patients./liliComputer literacy, accurate spelling, and typing skills required./liliMedical office administration education preferred, prior patient account or third-party billing experience desirable./liliMedical terminology knowledge and telephone skills preferred./liliFamiliarity with Meditech software systems preferred./li/ulpbWork Environment:/b/ppThis is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. The majority of time will be spent sitting while multitasking on the phone, computer, and interacting with patients and coworkers. Must be able to turn, twist, and bend to move objects up to 5 lbs in weight, lift, and walk with objects up to 5 lbs in weight, and stand up, walk to provider stations, and clinic offices throughout the day when necessary./p
