Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Avionics Hardware Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our Avionics team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing digital and analog circuit boards for our spacecraft. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the safety and reliability of our systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop digital and analog circuit boards for spacecraft avionics systems
  • Develop and lead avionics controller architecture trade studies and analyses
  • Support avionics controller risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx)
  • Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance, and safety initiatives
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
  • 2-5 years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems
  • Breadth of understanding in electronics hardware development, including complex circuit card design and development
  • Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles
  • Familiarity with common communication methods, such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Basic or better knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications
  • Demonstrated experience designing high-reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standards
  • Experience with launch vehicle Avionics systems hardware development, integration, and test
