Hospice Aide Job Description

Job Summary:

The Hospice Aide provides personal care and support to patients in their homes, under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role requires a high level of compassion, empathy, and communication skills to ensure the best possible care for our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning
  • Perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy or nursing services
  • Assist patients and families to learn rehabilitative techniques and promote compliance with established programs
  • Recognize and report promptly to the registered nurse any changes in the mental and/or physical status of the patient
  • Perform or assist with activities necessary to maintain a healthful, safe environment
  • Document patient care and services provided
  • Work independently and as part of a team to provide comprehensive care

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of 75 hours of state-approved aide training
  • Current registration on the Ohio Aide Registry
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing personal care in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions:

The Hospice Aide will work in patients' homes, which may require travel to various locations. The ability to lift 25 lbs of supplies or equipment and to work in a fast-paced environment is required.
