Patient Service Representative

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is seeking a Guest Service Ambassador to join our Food and Nutrition Services team in Springfield, MA.
Job Summary:The Guest Service Ambassador will facilitate patient meal and snack selections, assemble and deliver patient meals in an established timeframe with an emphasis on customer service. The successful candidate will provide guidance to patients and family members to select foods that are in compliance with Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) orders.
Responsibilities:- Assess patients for appropriateness for food selections.
- Assist patients and family with meal selections when indicated.
- Provide guidance and encourage patients and/or family to select foods that meet MNT orders. Recommend alternatives. Confirm MNT orders and allergies in CIS and CBORD systems.
- Communicate consistent food choice and/or intake problems to Clinical Nutrition Team and nursing.
- Accurately assemble patient snacks and meal trays that are in compliance with diet orders and food allergies.
- Deliver meals, snacks and supplements to patients. Coordinate meal delivery with nursing for patients on points of care.
- Use dual identifiers when delivering trays and snacks.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of tray and assists patients with tray set up when needed.
- Practice clean in, clean out.
- Record supplement, fluid and meal intake. Record calorie count when ordered.
- Report patient snack/meal problems to Supervisor or Liaison.
- Stock and refill cold and dry storage supplies for patient tray assembly and back up areas.
- Practice safe food handling including maintaining appropriate food temperature, hand washing and personal hygiene.
- Accurately process Commissary orders to maintain par level for tray line food items.
- Accurately assemble patient snacks in compliance with diet orders and food allergies.
- Accurately perform tray tracking.
- Practice First in, First out.
- Deliver meals and snacks to units independently.
- Experience in hospitality industry preferred but not required.
- 1-2 years' experience in customer service.
- Ability to work rotating days, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to multitask.
- Computer literate.
