Position Overview

As a Financial Operations Specialist at Sacred Heart University, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial transactions. This position is not eligible for remote work and is based in a dynamic university environment.

Eligibility
Open to individuals who are U.S. Citizens.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct in-depth technical research and analysis of complex financial transactions, including but not limited to expired and frozen funds.
  2. Ensure the accuracy of financial adjustments necessary for reporting purposes, including contract entitlements and fund status.
  3. Process and accurately disburse contractual invoices and claims, while effectively managing prior loan recoupments.
  4. Maintain, balance, and reconcile financial documents and reports, providing supporting schedules to clarify any discrepancies.
  5. Investigate and resolve issues related to previous payments, ensuring timely corrective actions are taken.
  6. Analyze current accounts and historical data to validate detailed financial information.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Background or Security Investigation may be required.
  • Registered for Selective Service (for males born after a certain date).
  • Must meet qualifications for Federal employment.

Qualifications
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense.

Qualified candidates must possess relevant financial experience or a degree in a related field such as Finance, Accounting, or Management.

Applicants should have at least one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of this role.

Specialized Experience Defined:
  • Managing financial ledgers and posting transactions.
  • Preparing financial reports and reconciling accounts.
  • Utilizing various accounting and automated financial systems.

Education Requirements
For GS-07 positions, one full year of graduate-level education may substitute for specialized experience if it is directly related to the position.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

If using education as a substitute, transcripts must be submitted with the application. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
