Job Summary

The Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and interpreting cardiac rhythms and/or hemodynamic lines for assigned patients on the unit under the direction of the RN, LPN, Physician or Physician Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document and report EKG abnormalities, changes, or concerns to the appropriate staff member.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and/or hemodynamic lines for assigned patients.
  • Perform unit clerical duties, transcription of orders, communication of information, and requisition of supplies and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position.
  • Successful Completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythms course and/or the ability to pass Asante's Basic Cardiac Rhythms test.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (through education or experience in a health care setting), preferred.
  • Successful completion of an Advanced Cardiac Rhythms course, preferred.
