Position Overview:
The Emergency Medical Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of the emergency medical services program, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact between the emergency medical services program and local fire/EMS agencies, as well as state health authorities.
  • Coordinate and manage daily operations of the EMS Training Centers, ensuring effective training and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the EMS Director and Manager to create and execute strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery.
  • Organize educational programs and instructor assignments for licensed EMS providers in the region.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new EMS providers entering the system.
  • Work with medical directors to develop continuing education programs that align with state requirements.
  • Design and implement primary education courses, including but not limited to EMR, EMT-Basic, and Advanced EMT.
  • Provide ongoing educational instruction to EMS service providers and Mercyhealth medical staff.
  • Assist in the management of the simulation program for training purposes.
  • Maintain accurate records of educational and skills validation for EMS providers.
  • Engage in quality assurance and improvement processes with affiliated EMS agencies.
  • Promote public awareness and interest in EMS careers through collaboration with educational institutions and community organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the EMS leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services, Fire Service, Emergency Management, or a related field; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is also acceptable.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as an active EMS provider or as an emergency department registered nurse.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in a relevant field.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current EMT-Paramedic licensure in the State of Wisconsin; National Registry certification is preferred.
  • Current AHA ACLS certification; instructor status preferred or to be obtained within six months.
  • Current AHA BLS certification; instructor status preferred or to be obtained within six months.
  • Ability to obtain AHA PALS certification within six months; instructor status preferred.
  • Wisconsin EMS Instructor 2 or Emergency Services Instructor certification.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of residence.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background checks as required.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Wisconsin state statutes and administrative rules governing EMS providers.
  • Familiarity with effective instructional techniques and adult learning methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in advancing educational initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with EMS personnel and the community.

The work environment typically features quiet to moderate noise levels, with no significant occupational exposure.
