The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) stands as the sixth largest transit system in the United States, operating an extensive array of fixed route services that encompass bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail across a 2,200 square mile service area.

SEPTA plays a crucial role in the economic vitality of the Philadelphia region, offering a dependable and efficient transportation solution.

We are currently looking for candidates for the role of Signals Maintainer Trainee.

Individuals with a background in electrical or electro-mechanical maintenance are encouraged to consider the Signal Trainee Program, a comprehensive two-year training initiative.

This extensive training equips participants for advancement into a Signal Maintainer role. Signal Trainees and Maintainers are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and testing of signals, including cable, electrical, and mechanical equipment across SEPTA's City, Suburban, and Regional Railroad lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repairs, maintenance, and testing of signals, including cable, electrical, and mechanical equipment on SEPTA's various transit lines.

Additional requirements include:

  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Electrical or Mechanical/Electrical fields, or a technical school degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical disciplines.
  • Knowledge in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Note: Candidates must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License during the training period.
