Senior Roadway Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Roadway Estimator to join our team at Texas Sterling Construction Co. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing support in areas of roadway, heavy civil, and highway bridge projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Prepare estimates by calculating statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, and equipment costs
  • Review and research historical data to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates
  • Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures
  • Participate in developing bid package estimate documents
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures
  • Create and manage subcontractor requests for proposal
  • Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
  • Follow awarded contracts as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 4 years of heavy civil, heavy highway estimating experience
  • Minimum 4 years of hard bid estimating experience
  • Minimum 4 years of estimator and/or project engineer and estimating experience working on heavy civil projects
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating & scheduling software
  • Ability to pass criminal and driving background checks
  • Valid Driver License
