Credit Manager

The Credit Manager plays a crucial role in directing and coordinating activities within the credit team at Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC. This includes conducting thorough credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts from customers.
Key Responsibilities- Reviews credit requests submitted by branches for adequate support and documentation, establishing credit lines within company policy limits and making decisions subject to approval levels.
- Evaluates and determines credit limit amounts, communicating limits to location teams.
- Reviews and adjusts credit lines annually or upon request, making adjustments when limits are exceeded.
- Suspends or revokes lines of credit when necessary, based on external information affecting account financial strength.
- Interacts with customers to obtain additional credit information, supporting credit lines.
- Submits requests and supporting documentation to the Director of Credit for accounts over $250,000.
- Maintains active membership in NACM, communicating with members to facilitate credit information flow.
- Attends NACM meetings and participates in required activities.
- Evaluates various adjustments or exception documents.
- Approves credit viability on requests for extended terms, passing on to division managers for concurrence, notifying locations of decisions, and maintaining copies on file.
- Maintains bad debt and bad debt recovery records.
- Monitors receivables and collections, providing periodic updates to business unit vice presidents and division managers.
- Identifies problem accounts, communicating with sales and customers in the most appropriate manner.
- Makes joint visits with salespersons.
- Negotiates payment programs with delinquent customers.
- Identifies accounts requiring collection agency or legal action, coordinating collections with third-party contractors.
- Identifies violations of credit policies, suggesting incentive penalties when appropriate.
- Generates legal documents used in the credit function.
- Coordinates the yearly prepayment program.
- Provides a prepayment line of credit recommendation to the Director of Credit for amounts over $250,000.
- Coordinates reconciliation of branch location cash accounts.
- Approves and submits requests for new salesperson numbers and changes.
- Prepares and maintains the yearly budget for the division credit team.
- Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Performs other work-related duties assigned by leaders.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is required.
- Five years of credit experience is required.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of accounts through monitoring credit limits and account aging information, taking appropriate action when necessary, is required.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- NACM or CCE designation is preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting and financial concepts.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
- Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
- Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, are required.
The work environment for this position is a typical office setting with a mostly quiet noise level. This role requires using hands for various tasks and talking, hearing, walking, standing, and sitting. Occasional lifting or moving up to 10 pounds may be required.
