Overview

The National Bureau of Asian Research is a nonpartisan research institution dedicated to providing world-class scholarship on the evolving strategic environment in Asia.

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Associate to join our team and contribute to our mission of promoting a free, open, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

About the Role

This full-time position will provide project support for our research projects focusing on political and security issues across the Indo-Pacific region.

You will be responsible for liaising with project experts, managing project deadlines, and assisting in monitoring budgets. Additionally, you will assist with the development of project concepts and grant proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with project experts and manage project deadlines.
  • Assist in monitoring budgets and preparing written project materials.
  • Support the development of project concepts and grant proposals.
  • Provide substantive research assistance for project teams and scholars.
  • Review, edit, format, and fact-check project publications.
  • SUPPORT TEAM EVENTS BY DRAFTING AGENDAS AND COORDINATING INVITATIONS.
  • Manage and update project databases to ensure efficient organization and accessibility of project-related information.
  • Participate actively in and support various NBR activities and initiatives as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in security studies, Asia Studies, international relations, foreign policy, or a related field. You will also require at least 1 year of research assistance and/or administrative support experience in the U.S.-Asia policy field.

A proficient knowledge and understanding of US-Asia relations and political and security issues in the Indo-Pacific region are essential. Excellent research and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail, are also required.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is between $40,000 and $50,000 per year, depending on education. This full-time position includes medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees and their families, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
