Job Title: Youth Worker/Counselor

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker/Counselor to join our Children and Youth Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and educational development of our youth.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of program goals and activities for youth
  • Create a nurturing and supportive environment for the youth
  • Supervise participants and implement various recreational, educational, social, and team-building activities
  • Provide classroom management and instruction, as well as act as a liaison with parents
  • Attend regular staff meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years of age in a recreational, educational, and social environment (preferred)
  • Clearance through New York State Central Registry and New York State Office of Children and Family Services required
  • Experience with or knowledge of best practices in youth development and whole language philosophy (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
