Job Summary

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Worker to join our team. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Program Directors and Coordinators to develop and implement program goals and activities for youth.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment for young people, promoting their physical, emotional, and social growth.
  • Design and deliver engaging recreational, educational, and social activities that cater to diverse interests and needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to youth, helping them develop essential life skills and confidence.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Meet with Program Coordinators and Directors for supervision and feedback.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-12 months of experience working with youth in a recreational, educational, or social setting.
  • Clearance through New York State Central Registry and New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Knowledge of best practices in youth development and whole language philosophy is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
  • Standing, walking, or sitting for long periods.
  • Climbing five flights of stairs, if required for home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Bending and retrieving objects and/or documents.
  • Traveling in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Traveling for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather.
