Job Summary

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of our youth participants.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with program directors and coordinators to develop and implement program goals and activities for youth.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment that fosters positive relationships and promotes youth development.
  • Design and implement engaging recreational, educational, and social activities that cater to diverse youth interests.
  • Provide classroom management and instruction, ensuring a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and well-being.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and program developments.
  • Attend First Aid, CPR, and Responding to Emergency (RTE) training to ensure a safe and prepared work environment.
  • Meet regularly with program coordinators and directors for supervision and performance evaluation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the program.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience working with youth in a recreational, educational, or social setting.
  • Clearance through New York State Central Registry and New York State Office of Children and Family Services required.
  • Experience with or knowledge of best practices in youth development and whole language philosophy is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required for home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required for home visits and/or fieldwork.
